kei Research Briefs Vol.2 No.1 SEPTEMBER 2014 TIDAL CURRENT ENERGY authors TAEYUN KIM JEONG-IL PARK centents 02 ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT GUIDELINES FOR TIDAL CURRENT ENERGY DEVELOPMENT this study aims to identify the status of tidal current generation projects currently in operation in korea and to develop a guideline of environmental assessment for tidal current energy development in korea. it presents a site selection process and environmental impact assessment measures suitable for conditions in korea, based on considerations of the possible environmental impacts liable to be caused b a tidal current energy project. for measures to examine site feasibility, the study identifies relevant criteria for consideration and suggested plausible measures to select appropriate sites. for guidelines on environmental assessment, it suggests a systemic range of environmental impact assessment measures that divideds the assessment process into gour stages of investingating current conditions, predicting potential impacts, finding measures to mitigate the environmental impact, and post-development environmental monitoring. 03 05 07 14 design the necessary structures width the aim to mitigate environmental impacts and the use of additional equipment and chemical substances, in adition, begin at small scale and increase increment to commercial scale to minimize environmental impact.
