Ⅰ. Research Background and Objectives
o Research Background
ㅇClimate change, environmental pollution, and the loss of biodiversity are threatening the sustainability of water and the services provided by water and ecosystems. To ensure the sustainability of water environmental services, it's crucial to evaluate and inspect the management systems and seek improved approaches based on these evaluations.
ㅇ Aging infrastructure is increasing the risk of disasters. While maintenance in response to accidents is being conducted, there is difficulty in establishing concrete investment plans and financial strategies for reconstruction due to aging.
ㅇThis project, running from 2014 to 2023, aims to find management strategies for water environmental services and sustainable water infrastructure over a 10-year period.
-In particular, it evaluates the sustainability of water environmental services and water infrastructure management for 161 local governments nationwide, focusing on the water and sewage sectors, and provides related information.
o Research Objectives
ㅇ In line with the previous research, authors carried out this study with the following objectives;
-① Acquiring data on water environmental services and water infrastructure
-② Assessing whether the local governments sustainably manage water environment services and the associated infrastructures, and
-③ Providing information for efficient operation and maintenance of water & sewerage infrastructures.
ㅇ The year 2023 marks the conclusion of this project. The outcomes of this research are expected to provide information t
