Enhanced Environmental Management Methods for Waste Recycling Facilities after Post-Covid19
Waste management in Korea faces two major shift in coming years. Post Covid-19 era will alter waste generations and show increased amount of municipal solid waste(MSW) as well as medical wastes. Most of increased MSW derives form increase delivery services and parcels which consists of many recyclable wastes such as paper and plastic. And after 2026, Seoul and its surrounding metropolitan area must incinerate MSWs before processing to landfills(whole country will commence in 2030). Due to these circumstances, wastes that was processed in landfill will have to undergo waste selection process to collect recyclable and combustible wastes.
Much of research on waste treatment have been focused on incineration facilities and landfill facilities. However, as recycling facilities comes off as clean and environmental friendly facilities, there was lack of research and interests. Korea has categorized many recycling facilities depending on watse characteristics and methods that are used for recycling. Misconception of recycling facilities being environmental friendly, supervision and management of these facilities were less of interest for many politicians and government bodies.
With the changes of waste treatment process in Korea, we started to focus on recycling facilities wether it is environmental friendly as its been told and decide wether it needs more supervision and management throughout the process. Here we will be discussing about general issues that occur during recyclable waste collection, selection, and process involved in recycling waste. Also we will be looking at so
