Costs of Innovative Technologies for Achieving Carbon Neutrality
Ⅰ. Background and Purpose of Research
1. Introduction
o Through the Paris Agreement (2015), IPCC 1.5℃ Report (2018), and UN Climate Summit (2019), countries around the world set the goal of achieving Net Zero.
ㅇ The Korean government presented the direction and plan for achieving Net Zero through the 2050 long-term low-carbon development strategy. It also presented goals and strategies by establishing the 2050 Net Zero Scenario and the ‘Strategy to Promote Technological Innovation for Achieving Net Zero.’
ㅇ The technology database currently established is focusing on technologies for achieving the 2030 reduction target. It is necessary to select core technologies to implement the Net Zero Scenario and build a database of the cost of technologies.
ㅇ In addition, for efficient and effective introduction of technologies, strategies based on cost information and Net Zero implementation paths are needed.

o Research scope and methodology
ㅇ Select key innovative technologies to implement the Net Zero Scenario and build a technology cost database
- 2050 Net Zero Scenario review: identifying core technologies and selecting innovative technologies
- Review of database construction plans focusing on innovative technologies that can be used for Net Zero policy analysis
ㅇ Presenting an effective strategy for technology introduction through cost calculation
- For selected innovative technologies, we estimated the technology cost which consists of capital cost, installation cost, and operation and maintenance cost for each technology, converted it into an annual equal cost using the dat
