Supporting Sustainable Transition in Regions: Adjusting to the New Normal in the Post-COVID19 Era(Ⅰ)
Ⅰ. Background and Aims of Research
1. Introduction
o This study discusses reflections on the COVID-19 pandemic and suggests future directions and modeling to achieve a “sustainable transition” for local communities using data obtained in the two-year study period (2022o2023).
ㅇ In the first year, we aimed to identify possible directions for sustainable regional transition projects through surveys and preliminary field surveys.
ㅇ Our research objectives are as follows:
- First, identify points of reflection that have emerged since the COVID-19 pandemic and discuss various aspects of sustainable transition projects
- Second, evaluate the impact of COVID-19 and explore sustainable transition through surveys and field investigations.

Ⅱ. Review of Sustainable Transition Projects at the Local Scale
1. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
o SDGs have been proposed to guide sustainable development and emphasize an integrated approach to solving issues relating to the society, economy, and the environment.

o The central and local governments of Korea have established SDGs and emphasized a bottom-up approach in the process.

2. Ecological relocalization
o Ecological localization refers to a series of alternative community movements that seek to rehabilitate and build sustainable communities.

o Representative examples include permaculture projects, ecovillages, and conversion villages.

3. Reflections on the COVID-19 pandemic
