Analysis System for Regional Environmental Status to Support Environmental Assessment : Analysis of Air Quality Changes due to National Development Plan
Ⅰ. Background and Purpose of Research
oDevelopment projects for industrial complexes and power plants, which are major sources of air pollutants in Korea, are steadily increasing.
ㅇBased on 2011, the increase rate of industrial complexes in 2022 is about 46% for general industrial complexes and about 256% for urban high-tech industrial complexes.
ㅇAccording to the analysis of the trend of power generation capacity by power generation source across the country based on 2011, steam turbine power (bituminous coal) increased by about 49% in 2020, and combined cycle power showed an increase of up to 65%.

oIn order to manage air quality at the national and local level in the face of continuous development pressure, it is necessary to analyze and forecast trends in air quality changes through comprehensive evaluation of mid- to long-term development plans.

oThis study predicted changes in air quality when all development projects that completed environmental impact assessment consultations between 2011 and 2020 are carried out.
ㅇThis study aimed to provide objective data for policy adjustment that can contribute to air quality improvement by evaluating in advance the impact of development plans on pan-regional air quality.

Ⅱ.Changes in Air Pollutant Emissions according to Development Plans
oAccording to the analysis of the current status of industrial complex development plans, development plans are concentrated in Yeongnam and Chungcheong regions.
ㅇFrom 2011 to 2020, there were 270 industrial complexes which completed environmental impact assessment consultations, with 101 in
