A Study on Assessing the Site Selection of Urban Logistics Facilities Focusing on Demand and Environmental Factors
Ⅰ. Introduction
1. Research Background
ㅇ Korea has experienced a rapid increase of freight volume and growth of distribution of goods in urban areas due to expansion of e-commerce. This trend has been further accelerated owing to COVID-19, which results in increase demands of logistics facilities in non-urban areas near cities where accessibility is well secured.
ㅇ Excessive supply of logistics facilities tends to occur the spot development form in non-urban areas, and such a developmental pattern result in damaging national land and creating social conflicts including encroaching valuable green and farming areas, harming scenery, issuing local complaints and so on.

2. Research Aim
ㅇ This study will suggest institutional arrangements for site appropriateness from the perspective of the precautionary principle in environmental impacts and prevention of social conflict via securing public consultation dealing with imbalance between demand and supply of logistics facilities and spot development patterns. In the end, this study provide a detailed guideline which can be applied during the environmental impact assessment process.

Ⅱ. Analysis of Development and Site of Logistics Facilities
