Enhancing Resilience of Victims of Environmental Pollution : Focusing on the Conflict Management
Ⅰ. Introduction
ㅇ This study aims to identify aspects of social conflict in the process of recovering damage from environmental pollution, and to propose measures to strengthen resilience at the social level while focusing on conflict management.
ㅇ To achieve the purpose, this research conducted three case studies of environmental pollution accidents in the Republic of Korea.
ㅇ The specific purposes of the study are as follows:
- First, the aspects of social conflicts that actually occur will be identified through case studies.
-Second, the causes of the conflict, and its impact on the recovery process will be confirmed.
-Third, based on the above, this study will propose a conflict management plan that not only mediates conflicts but also promotes cooperation among interested parties from the perspective of social resilience.

Ⅱ. Technological Disaster Characteristics of Environmental Pollution Accident, Social Conflict, and Resilience
o Technological disaster characteristics of environmental pollution accident
ㅇ Environmental pollution accidents can be considered ‘toxic technological disasters’.
ㅇEnvironmental pollution accidents can be divided into ‘acute environmental pollution accidents’ that occur suddenly and quickly, and ‘chronic environmental pollution accidents’ that occur slowly after a long period of accumulation.
ㅇEnvironmental pollution accidents, the toxic technological disaster, have the following features:
