A Study on GHG Emissions Associated with Daily Life and Public Awareness Survey for Achieving Carbon Neutrality
Ⅰ. Background and Aims of the Research
o As the response to climate change becomes more urgent, it is necessary for citizens to participate in achieving carbon neutrality
ㅇ Achieving carbon neutrality is urgent as the adverse effects of climate change become more serious around the world.
ㅇ In order to transform our society into a carbon-neutral one, it is necessary to promote the reduction of greenhouse gases even in the non-industrial sectors through the practice and spread of environment-friendly, carbon-neutral green lifestyles of citizens.

o In order to contribute to the achievement of the carbon neutrality goals, it is necessary to provide basic information for future policy development by estimating citizens’ awareness and practices of green lifestyles and the current status of daily life-related greenhouse gas emissions.
ㅇ This study aims to identify the current status of carbon-neutral green lifestyle practices in Korea and draw policy implications through a public survey.

Ⅱ. Trends Related to Climate Change and Daily Life-related
Greenhouse Gas
1. Global increase in greenhouse gas emissions
o Globally, greenhouse gas emissions are continuously increasing, along with life-related greenhouse gas emissions.
ㅇ The greenhouse gas emission from the transportation and building sectors is also significant and evaluated as having high reduction potential.

2. Greenhouse gas emissions in Korea
o Korea’s greenhouse gas emissions have been steadily increasing, and per capita emissions have increased rapidly.
ㅇ Korea’s greenhouse gas emissions are continuously increasing
