A Study on the Improvement of Environmental Regulations to Promote the Green Economy(Ⅲ)
Ⅰ. Background and Aims of Research
o Green economy has become a worldwide agenda item and many countries are pursuing policies for sustainable development and environment.
ㅇ Especially, a number of countries including South Korea have announced ‘carbon neutrality’ goals and increased the practice of environmental regulations to control environmental problems.

o This study aims to suggest ways to improve environmental regulations in order to promote green economy based on the academic foundation built in the first and second-year studies.
ㅇ From the perspective of the regulator and stakeholder, this study suggests ways to improve the acceptance and understanding of environmental regulation and to enhance the rationality of regulation design.

Ⅱ. Concept of Green Economy and Environmental Regulation
1. Trend of environmental regulations
o Environmental regulation refers to the restriction and intervention of a governmental body to achieve public goals including environmental protection and reservation.

o Environmental regulation can be categorized according to medium―atmosphere, water, chemical, waste―and to measures―characteristic, solution, range of intervention, and subject.
ㅇ This study constructs the database of newly enacted or strengthened environmental regulations under the Ministry of Environment between 2018 and 2020.

o Recently, voluntary environmental regulations by private actors such as ESG management and RE100 goals are receiving more attention in that they make up traditional environmental regulations by governments.
ㅇ Private companies recognize voluntary
