Establishing research plans for managing particulate matter considering human health risk
Korean government has focused on management of national policy for improving particulate matter(PM) pollution. However, there are still many policy needs to improve ambient air quality. Especially the needs for reduction of volatile organic compounds(VOCs), improvement of environmental cooperation in East Asia, policy measures in harbor and shipping emissions, SRF/Bio-SRF, policy communications, reducing health influence, etc.
Throughout the six policy forums assigned, we have following conclusions.
1) The government needs to invest the LNG trucks in a short term to reduce PM pollution. The hydrogen fuel technology is still necessary as a long-term policy goal.
2) Environmental cooperations in East Asia is stagnating due to the political conflict. Thus the environmental cooperation need to focus on co-education for younger generation.
3) Volatile organic compounds(VOCs) has not been controlled well so far. The government needs to make policy-tool to mitigate its emissions and make stronger policy to achieve larger and continuous emissions reduction in the industrial sectors.
4) SRF is not considered as renewable energy sources, but there are increasing demands to use SRF in terms of material recycle. Therefore, the stronger managements of emissions control in this sectors.
5) There is emission reduction expected due to new regulations of IMO. But still the stronger emissions reductions is necessary in the marin shipping sectors.
6) The cooperation in the researches for human influence by air pollutants is important in East Asia. Furthermore, measuring constituents of PM2.
