A study on environmentally sound management plans of wastes generated from military forces
The management of the wastes generated from military forces, especially army, are studied for the application of environmentally sound manner. The main contents are the current situation of generation and treatment of wastes generated from army, the survey and analysis of real status of wastes generated from army, the current situation management of wastes generated from military forces on foreign countries, especially USA, and the direction of policy and strategy for managing wastes. The following topics are discussed: statistics for volume generated and treated; waste classification; estimation on the generated volume; collection and transportation; separation of and collection of recyclable wastes; management of incinerators; budget for treatment of wastes.
The wastes can be classified to domestic and specified wastes, but it is difficult to classify for some wastes. The wastes are mainly treated by recycling and incineration, but the specific data for the generation and treatment are not be obtained. The capacity of incinerator is 50 - 95 kg/hr and only the basic facilities for pollution prevention are equipped. The unified method for calculating the amount of generated wastes are suggested and the classification of the wastes are performed according to thew law of waste management even for some wastes which are difficult to be classified by the law.
The collection and transportation of wastes are performed by the use of envelop for volume-based collection fee system and the vehicle having cover, which can be used even in the same division. The recycl
