Economic Feasibility Analysis of Food Waste Recycling Project

Food waste recycling project has been promoted nationwide under government's initiative. The food waste recycling facilities are being increased currently in many municipalities. The technology and size of food waste recycling plants are various and thus the cost also remarkably differs from one to another plant. Many local communities are not in a position to choose a proper food waste recycling technology among many technologies.
Analysis of constructing food waste recycling facility and recommendations on cost effective recycling technology, size of food waste are need for the municipalities to refer.
Main purposes of this study are to examine current status of food waste recycling facilities in municipalities; to analyze the cost of food waste recycling including construction cost and management cost and collection costs; to suggest cost effective food waste recycling systems. Major findings are as follows.
The unit cost of composting is 30 thousand won/ton ~ 85 thousand won/ton depending upon the rate of operation. If we assume the plants are fully (25 days working in a month) operated, the composting costs are 30 thousand won/ton ~ 58 thoudsand won/ton.
The unit cost of feed are 31 thousand won/ton ~ 58 thousand won /ton. As the same as composting case, if the 80% operation of the plants are assumed, the unit cost of wet feed 30 tho
