Ⅰ. Background and Purpose of the Study
o Background and Necessity of the Study
ㅇ Considering the impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on the environment, society, and economy in Korea and across the world, a timely response by the environmental sector is required to tackle another potential pandemic that may arise in the futuredue to an infectious disease.
ㅇ Therefore, it is crucial to establish a pandemic response system in each environmental sector andto lay the foundation for related policy support.

ㅇ To analyze the impact, changes,and relationships among major environmental sectors (e.g., health, energy, and waste) during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ⅱ. Analysis of the Domestic and International Status and Impact of COVID-19
o Health (Environmental Health) Sector
ㅇ For the health sector, this study analyzed the increase or decrease in the number of COVID-19 patients and deaths both in Korea and abroad, compared to the findings of the study in the first year. Additionally, it collected opinions through a questionnaire survey to assess the perceived changes in the significance of the environmental sector during the pandemic. This study also examined the positive and negative impact of the pandemic on the environmental sector, and analyzed the distribution of pandemic events at the city, county, and district levels to identify spatial and temporal changes in applicable situations.
