On July 15, 2016, KEI and CAEP (Chinese Academy for
Environmental Planning) held the Workshop on Korea-China Cooperation for
Air Pollution Reduction of Metropolitan Area at the Changbaishan International
Hotel in Beijing, China to enhance the understanding of
both nations’ air pollution reduction policies and to pursue bilateral
cooperation to reduce air pollution of metropolitan areas.

○ Presentation 2: Vehicle emission status in Jing-Jin-Ji

○ Presentation 3: Vehicle pollution in Zhujiang Delta and
management policy (Dr. QU Aiyu, CAEP)
○ Presentation 4: Korea-China main cooperation area for
vehicle air pollution control (Dr. DONG Zhanfeng, CAEP)

and plan]
○ Presentation 1: Air quality management of Seoul: achievements
and plan (Dr. GONG, Sung Yong, KEI)
○ Presentation 2: Status of Korea-China cooperation on air

○ Need to focus on the following areas to curb air pollution
of vehicles in China
- Stringent emission standards, ban of yellow-label and old
cars, distribution of environmentally-friendly vehicles, standard on fuel
quality, vehicle air pollution monitoring and regional cooperation, controlling
the number of cars on the road, and road space rationing
○ As a follow-up to the meeting, the second workshop will be
held in coming September or October.
