- The 1st Fukushima
Monitoring Workshop was held to monitor the status of and policies related to the
Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster and make field visits to Fukushima (Resident
interview and visit to evacuation center).
- During the workshop, members of
the KEI visited the Decontamination Information Plaza in Fukushima, evacuation
center and Fukushima Medical University. The status, method and priority of
decontamination process were discussed at the Decontamination Information Plaza.
Afterwards, they also made field visits to Minamisoma, Naramachi and Iitate to
examine how decontamination process was actually being carried out.
- In Tokyo, a seminar was held at
the National Institute for Environmental Studies to discuss the topics studied after
the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, flow of radiation in air, the long-term
flow of radioactive substances, and the health effects of radiation exposure.
