Urban green space plays an essential role in creating carbon sink and enhancing biodiversity in addition to providing a pleasant view. A variety of benefits (ecosystem services) that urban biodiversity offers have an enormous impact on: (1) raising the quality of life of urban residents, (2) improving the livability of cities, (3) and facilitating the prosperity of an area by inducing visitor inflow. However, continuous urbanization has led to a decrease in potential habitats for wild animals (e.g., green space) in line with an increase in residential, commercial, and industrial areas, taking a toll on urban ecosystem.

This study assessed implications from domestic and foreign cases and projects on green restoration. In addition, it suggested key strategies and sub-projects after examining the status and limitations in policy and system related to the current restoration projects. Lastly, policy recommendations and future research directions for green restoration and biodiversity improvement were presented.
