The International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific (ISAP) is held annually in Japan bringing together leading experts, international organisations, governments, businesses, and NGOs to discuss various aspects of sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific. This year’s forum was organised by the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), and the main theme of ISAP in 2022 was "Strengthening Synergies between Climate Change and Biodiversity: From Science to Policy to Action".

As we face a variety of global threats, such as escalating climate change, loss of biodiversity, and the energy and food crises triggered by the war in Ukraine, the participants discussed how to take a bold step forward for a decisively different decade in "Sustainable Asia and the Pacific."

KEI President Chang Hoon Lee joined as a speaker of the third plenary session of ISAP 2022.
This session aimed not only to advance the debate on climate change and biodiversity, and on integrated solutions to these global challenges, but also encouraged discussion on strengthening the interface between science, policy and action.

KEI President Chang Hoon Lee introduced KEI's major research and activities in the field of climate change and biodiversity. He also mentioned how KEI is playing a role as change agents in the era of transition, drawing on advanced, practical and empirical knowledge. In particular, KEI contributes to the transition through establishment of environmental policies by supporting public decision-making and various EIAs. Lastly, he emphasized on integrated actions on the ground from different stakeholders, and through international cooperations to implement synergistic actions.
