2. Objective
This study was conducted as preliminary survey to develop a plan for growth of environmental industry in Korea. It would provide pertinent information related to environmental industry in Korea and foreign countries to planners exploring the oppertunities initiating or expanding environmental market activities.

4. Content
The report includes assessment of environmental industry and market in Korea and foreign countries, North America and Japan. The assessment of the overall environmental industry in Korea is described in chapter 2, which was focused on pollution control industry. The assessment for foreign countries is described in charpter 3. For North America, the industry is classified by 25 market sectors including the environmental, pollution control, and waste management industries. For Japan, the assessment is done on the basis of pollution control industry.
5. Conclusion
Based on the result of the survey, the following summary can be made;
Although estimates of environmental market size in Korea are to be 540 million U.S. dollars, which is 0.3 percent of that in North America, its growth is expected to become a thriving branch of overall industry with laws related to pollution control and waste management, being more stringent, which is the market driver.
Domestic environmental firms, however, are paltry in their capital sizes and on a low level in technology
