North Korea's environmental legislation trends and DB Construction(Ⅰ)
Ⅰ. Introduction
ㅇThis study aims to understand the recent changes to North Korean environmental legislation and describe its content and significance with a view to inter-Korean cooperartion projects in environmental conservation.
ㅇNorth Korean environmental law categorizes the environment into atmosphere, soil, nature, daily life, water quality and aquatic ecosystems, and oceans, and specifies the respective environmental protection methods for different pollutants by distinguishing them into categories like management of waste and the management of noise and vibration.
ㅇAlthough North Korea is highly likely to be facing serious environmental issues, its actual condition is hard to conceptualize because accurate data on the current status of the North Korean environment is unavailable.
ㅇAs North Korean law changes, the changes to its environmental law, such as new legislation and the revision of old laws, should be monitored.
ㅇAs preparation is necessary for the inter-Korean integration of environmental law, research on the content and significance of North Korean environmental law must occur, and the related data must then be accumulated continuously.
-The data collection will be carried out for two years, in 2020 and 2021. In 2020, the research project draws on the pre- and post-Kim Jong-un periods to survey changes to major environmental laws and collect related data to understanding recent North Korean environmental legislation.
