The Korea Environment Institute, a government-funded research institution under the Prime Ministers Office, is calling for papers and ideas on international issues related to the environment, climate change, and sustainable development.

 

 

 

Submission & Announcement Date 

- Submission: Monday, August 27, 2018 ~ Wednesday, November 7, 2018

- Announcement: Thursday, November 29, 2018

- Integrated water resources management, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)s, post-2020 climate change mitigation regime, climate change adaptation, other climate change related issues, environmental information, environmental health environmental economics, environmental management and evaluation, etc. 

 Idea

- Proposals on the application of best practices from environment research fields including water quality, soil pollution, energy saving, resource circulation, chemicals, toxic substance, climate change, and related topics in Korea and other countries.

- Applicants must be, at the time of application, either enrolled in a first university degree or graduate school program. (Students graduating in and after August 2018 are eligible)

- In case of a joint research (maximum of 3 students), all participants must satisfy the above qualifications. Only student-authored papers are eligible for the competition.

- Professionals from the related fields are not allowed to apply for the competition.

  Idea

- Applicants must be, at the time of application, over the age of 19.

- Completed papers (English) should be a maximum of 5,000 words in length 

(References and appendixes are not counted) and be in an appropriate format

(Double-spaces, Times New Roman, 12pt font, 1 inch margin) following the guidelines of the Chicago Manual of Style.

  Idea

- Cardnews, (or) Infographics, (or) Motion graphics

- Completed slides for explanation of the contents should be a maximum of 10 pages in length.

KEI President Award (1 team): 2,000,000 KRW and a certificate from KEI president

K water President Award (1 team): 2,000,000 KRW and a certificate from K water President

Korea Environment Corporation President Award(1 team) : 2,000,000 KRW and a certificate from K-eco President

KEI Honorable Mentions (2 teams): 1,000,000 KRW and a certificate from KEI president

KEI Finalists (3 teams): 500,000 KRW and a certificate from KEI president

 

 

General Rules

 

- The copyright of the work belongs to the author, and the applicant is responsible for any disputes arising from copyright infringement related to all the materials used in the work.

 

- The submitted papers and ideas will not be returned.

 

- The work should be unpublished. Application or award may be revoked as a penalty for plagiarism.

 

- The KEI may modify or use the works in the future with prior consent of the author. The author should cooperate with the KEI in the process.

 

- The author of a winning paper must indicate that the paper has won the “2018 KEI International Paper and Idea Competition” when submitting it to another journal.
