The KEI-PEI Bhutan SEA (Strategic Environmental
Assessment) Workshop will be held on July 21, 2016. The joint UNDP-UNEP
Poverty Environment Initiative (PEI) which has been assisting the Royal
Government of Bhutan to integrate pro-poor environmental sustainability into national,
sectoral and sub-national development policy, planning and budgeting processes,
and KEI which has extensive experiences and expertise in undertaking SEAs have
agreed to support the country in conducting a SEA for Bhutan’s National Capital
Region.
The workshop has been organized to consult key stakeholders and discuss
the objectives, scope, approach and institutional arrangement of the proposed
SEA of the National Capital Region.
As a follow-up to the
meeting, a SEA capacity building training programme will be delivered by KEI in
September, 2016 (@Seoul tentative).
