The Korea Environment Institute (KEI) is proud to present its Global Leading Research Programs (GLRP), which are international joint research initiatives conducted in collaboration with various global partners. Initiated in 2023, the GLRP aims to strengthen the research capacities of all parties involved, as well as to expand and enhance KEI’s international research networks. These initiatives are carried out over a one-year timeframe, with KEI’s researchers being dispatched to the partner institution for up to two months. The outcomes of these programs include joint English-language reports that focus on issues related to both global and regional environmental challenges. The projects for 2024 began on April 1, 2024, and are scheduled to conclude on March 31, 2025.

The GLRP research initiatives for 2023 and 2024 are as follows:

 2024

1. Comparative Study on Urban Planning Elements and Policy Acceptability to Reduce Residents’ Carbon Footprint: Targeting Korea and Germany (in collaboration with the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development)

2. International Comparison of Renewable Energy and Grid Integration Planning Schemes (in collaboration with the Renewables Grid Initiative)

 2023

1. Analysis of Low-Energy Demand Scenarios with Global CGE Model (in collaboration with the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis)

2. A Study on Examining Flood Resilience in Asia and Developing Assessment Indicators of South Korea (in collaboration with the Stockholm Environment Institute)

Complete reports resulting from each 2023 initiative will be available on KEI’s website later this year.
